Nestled in Parktown this is fast becoming a favourite spot for us, from the unique, eyecatching yet relaxing decor to the friendly wait staff it is an experience.
We have been invited to enjoy a few meals there and have posted them on our Instagram page (give us a follow if you don’t already). So here is our honest review of our first visit.
Summary we will be back 🙂
We parked in the little parking lot behind the restaurant (paid parking). Then walked around the corner to get greeted by the welcoming manager. Faced with a challenge of where to sit, inside or on the patio both which feel like your somewhere other than JHB.
Now what is interesting is that the menus change and adapt always adding a bit extra, we have been for Brunch and Lunch both experiences have been great.
Luncheon with a friend turned into a day of delicious treats and cocktail, the food was so delicious I bought a take away because I needed to have more of it.
For starters we opted for pulled mojo pork tacos with tantalizing honey & soya mayo dressing, it is worth every bite, we paired it with a coca flatbread featuring drool-worthy flavours of salchichon sausage, red onion, manchego cheese and salsa roja for a lazy lunch this is ideal for sharing, with its crisp edges and subtle yet satisfying flavours it’s the right way to start a meal.
The show stopper the tummy filler the oh my word I can eat this for all my life mains.
Sunshine Bowl just as the name sounds it brightens up the day. So what is in the bowl of sunshine? Polenta crusted salmon & sweet potato fish cakes, turmeric sweet potato fries, apple and gooseberry salsa, yellow pepper, romaine lettuce, crispy tortilla straws and spiced mayo, I’ve been trying to eat healthy and I must say this is satisfying and fulling a winner. However, I could not (okay I probably could of) help but try some of my friends hamburguesa 150g beef burger, horseradish aioli, basil, rocker and peppadews in a brioche bun with bravas (the most divine and delicious all round yum potatoes). This is the dish I bought as a take away to spoil my husband with, and he enjoyed it just as much as my friend did and I snuck a couple more bites out of his burger and he didn’t count how many potatoes there were.
Not only is the food mouth-watering good but the friendly, attentive staff are what elevates this eating experience beyond a wonderful lunch with a friend.
We will be posting about our second visit at a later date because it’s delicious just on its own and hint, it involves chocolate.
